Fashion Fighting Famine presents its annual charity fashion show on May 1, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the Yorba Linda Community Center. This year’s theme is “An Old Hollywood Affair,” featuring a fashion show fundraiser, dinner, live performances and shopping, with a touch of Old Hollywood glam to color the night. Put on for Muslim women by Muslim women, FFF aims to benefit charitable causes across the globe, while promoting Islamic fashion and Muslim businesses for the local community.

This year’s beneficiary will be Islamic Relief, an award-winning internationally noted, humanitarian relief organization. This year’s funds will be directed to helping the organization’s development projects in Mali, with a special focus on the Widow’s Cooperative project. Each cooperative is run by a group of widowed women who are provided micro-loans from Islamic Relief, giving them the opportunity to start up and run their own businesses. This, in turn, helps them support their families and, in some cases, their respective villages. Their struggles serve as an inspiration to us all; for this reason, FFF is dedicated to advancing their livelihood and empowering them in their efforts to provide for their communities.

Fashion Fighting Famine is a student-run organization whose mission is to promote women’s empowerment and a balance between living and giving. Since its inception in 2007, FFF has designed unique events for ladies while benefiting charitable causes across the world. By the will of Allah, the group’s self-motivation and support from the Muslim community has contributed to its growth and ability to successfully fundraise for charitable causes across the world. We hope to see you at this year’s event.
