Fashion Fighting Famine has established itself as the primary source for Muslim fashion design in the United States, bringing the latest trends and rising Muslim designers from across the globe.

Since 2007, Fashion Fighting Famine ℠ (FFF) has produced an annual charity fashion show host to hundreds of women across Southern California and guests from all over the nation. We recently held our 5th Annual Fashion Show on June 3, 2012 and were featured in the HuffingtonPost, LA Weekly, Aquila Style Magazine, Aslan Media and more. Our 6th Annual Fashion Show will be held on March 31, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Irvine, California.

At FFF, we are committed to:
  • Providing a sphere for young women to exercise their creative ambitions and develop their skills
  • Creating a platform to promote Muslim designers to develop their brands and become successful entrepreneurs
  • Diversifying the standard definition of beauty. The models on our runway and lookbook are from all ages, body types, and ethnic and racial backgrounds
  • Furthering Muslim-American involvement in arts & culture by supporting emerging Muslim fashion designers
  • Empowering charitable projects in our community

History

Since 2007, FFF has hosted an annual charity fashion show drawing hundreds of women across Southern California and guests from all over the nation. Fashion Fighting Famine began as an event titled "Fashion Fighting Famine” and was organized by a young group of Muslim women based in Irvine, California. Inspired by a desire to support charity in a unique way, they began hosting an event featuring the work of local and talented performances by community members. In 2010, Nida Chowdhry, the current Executive Director, and Asmaa Hassanein, former Co-Director and current Advisor, established FFF as an organization and developed the current goals, scope and vision that are in place.
